"My sister and I had always wanted to do some Mosaic so when we saw The Mosaic Workshop, we were in.

Running high on adrenalin, we arrived in Beechwood to this beautiful property surrounded by trees, flowers, statues, mosaic work everywhere and we were so excited!

The studio we were to spend two days in was way above our expectations. Large and outfitted with everything you could possible need. We all had our own cutters, a huge choice of tiles, aprons and our choice of art stencilled out on our piece of outdoor board. The room was airconditioned, so very comfortable. There were 10 of us around a huge table and no one was hemmed in and off we went.

It was awesome watching our pieces come together and everyone did something very different. At times I was a little frustrated trying to learn how to cut a tile a certain way, but Chess was so helpful and accommodating you didn't feel like you couldn't ask her anything and of course if I found something a little too hard she would do it for me! By the end of the first day everyone's pieces were really coming together. Standing up and looking down on our pieces revealed it looked so much better from up high than down low! Spirits lifted even higher!

The morning and afternoon tea was a lovely surprise. A vast array of specialty teas, coffee, platters of fresh cheeses, hams, salami, fruit, cakes, cookies and all so yummi! We bought our own lunch and sat outside in the beauty that surrounded you everywhere! A little piece of paradise!

At the end of the 2 days we had finished pieces, all we had to do was the grouting which my sister and i got together the following week and did. We were impressed with ourselves and quickly snapped off some photos and sent them to Chess!

We now have a workshop under my sisters house, we are gathering pieces and reading and attempting to make things. We are starting on our tea tray next week and then work our way up to a table. We have huge expectations for ourselves!

The cost of the weekend was totally worth every cent, very affordable. i would recommend this to a group of friends, sisters, or just go by yourself. It is very meditative and totally addictable!”
